Arts, music and so much more

It’s autumn in Hoboken, and that means it’s time again for the annual Arts & Music Festival, coming your way Saturday Oct. 3 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Washington Street from Observer Highway to 7th Street, bringing music and games, arts and crafts and the participation of dozens of local businesses, restaurants, artists, photographers, and more.
Every year over 300 artists in the city’s creative community come out of their studios and put their wares under the tents along Washington Street. This year the fine artists will be located between 2nd and 3rd streets, so if you are an art collector, this is the place to be. There you’ll find oil paintings, watercolors, acrylics, sculpture, mixed media, and maybe some things not so easy to define.
Crafters and artisans who work in all sorts of media will be out in full force, displaying and selling handmade pottery, metalwork, wood items, furniture, blown and fused glass, quilts, household items made from recycled materials, cement ware, batik clothing, hand painted furniture, candles, jewelry, dried florals, soaps and lotions and much more.
Vendor applications are still available. Call (201) 420-2207.
Third Street will be given over to the kids, with rides, games, creative activities, puppet shows, face painting, clowns, balloons, and live performances. On the stage in the Capital One Bank parking lot you’ll find entertainment for the whole family from Erin Lee & the Up Part Bedtime Band, Oakie Dokie Magic, and Dawnie from Peanut Butter n’ Jammin’.
Hoboken restaurants will set up street cafes, and the air will be rich with the mingled aromas of a variety of national and ethnic cuisines, including Thai, Indian, Greek, French, Mexican, Cajun and Italian.
Lots of bands will pay on three different stages and the sounds of all kinds of music will echo off the storefronts.
The sponsors of the festival are Optimum, WRXP, PATH, Port Authority of NY and NJ;
The Hudson Reporter Newspapers, and Stevens Institute of Technology.
The festival is located just three blocks from all public transportation on the
PATH, NJ Transit trains and busses, NY Waterway Ferries and the Hudson Bergen Light Rail.
