HOBOKEN — In November, two challengers will face off against incumbent Michael Lenz for a chance to represent the fourth ward in the city council.
Lenz, who was appointed to the seat formerly held by Dawn Zimmer before she became mayor, will defend the seat for the first time on Nov. 2. Lenz is part of the council majority allied with Zimmer.
Tim Occhipinti, who formally announced his intention to run on June 17, will officially open his campaign headquarters on Sept. 25 at 11 a.m. at 56 Monroe St.
A third candidate, James Jeremy Sanford, has also filed a petition to run for the seat, according to the county clerk’s office.
The deadline to file a petition for candidacy was Sept. 15 at 4 p.m., which means Lenz, Occhipinti, and Sanford will be the three candidates fighting for the fourth ward seat.
