Hoboken PBA requests location change for 9/15 council meeting

HOBOKEN — Because the Sept. 1 City Council meeting filled the council chambers to capacity, Hoboken Police Benevolent Association President Vince Lombardi has sent a letter to City Clerk James Farina, Mayor Dawn Zimmer, and Council President Carol Marsh asking for a location change for the Sept. 15 meeting.
“I am expecting 400 – 500 members of the community, especially senior citizens, who have contacted me wanting to attend this upcoming meeting,” Lombardi said in a letter. “It is within the best interest of both the community and the city to change the location of this meeting to accommodate all persons wishing to attend in a facility that has adequate space, ventilation, air-conditioning for safety and health reasons.”
Lombardi recommended the Wallace Primary School auditorium/gymnasium for the next meeting, located at 1100 Willow Ave.
At the Sept. 1 meeting, Lombardi said he believed the meeting should be held at a larger venue.
“On the 15th, we’ll bring double or triple the people,” Lombardi said on Sept. 1. “They [the city] should consider having this meeting at the Meadowlands.”
No decision on a possible venue change has been made by City Hall as of Wednesday afternoon.
