Recently the town website (www.SecaucusNJ.org) added a jobs link for residents seeking employment opportunities. The link, which can be found on the left hand side of the home page, about mid-way down, features vacant positions at Secaucus-based businesses and employment websites. Positions at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the Hackensack Riverkeeper, and Goya Foods were among the job vacancies listed last week. Upcoming job fairs and training opportunities can also be found on the site.
There’s a separate link for residents who want to volunteer their time and skills.

High school rankings released
New Jersey Monthly magazine recently released its annual ranking of high schools across the state, a list that includes 322 educational institutions. Secaucus High School ranked No. 102 on the overall list. Two years ago the school came in at 103.
Secaucus High ranked particularly well when compared to other schools in its district factor group, which compares similar schools to one another. Within its district factor group, Secaucus placed fourth, behind Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, Palisades Park High, and Ocean City High School.
Millburn High School, Jersey City’s McNair Academy, and Tenafly High rounded out the first, second, and third positions, respectively, on the list.
Meadowlands Festival of Birding
Join some of the region’s best birders on walks, eco-cruises, and workshops geared to birders of all experience levels on Sat., Sept. 12 and Sun., Sept. 12.
On Saturday, there will be a line-up of off-site field trips, breakfast, lunch, and a keynote presentation at the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission’s (NJMC) Environment Center at DeKorte Park Plaza in Lyndhurst. Sunday’s program will consist of self-guided off-site field trips.
Admission to the Festival is $40. Kids and teens ages 10 to 17 enter for free. Admission includes all activities. Organized by the Hackensack Riverkeeper and the New Jersey Audubon Society, the festival is sponsored by the NJMC. Help support the Class of 2011
The Secaucus High School Class of 2011 is asking the community to support the many fundraisers the class plans to hold throughout the upcoming school year. One of the biggest fundraisers will be its Heart of a Champion “tricky tray.” Proceeds for the event will help pay for or defray the cost of the senior yearbook, caps, gowns, and other senior student needs.
Class advisors Keith Schneider and Amanda Jones are asking the community for monetary donations of any size. Donations are tax-deductible. Anyone interested in making a donation is asked to call SHS at (201) 974-2033.
