Funeral services were held Aug. 24 at Monumental Baptist Church, Jersey City, for Virginia Page Elam. She died Aug. 21. She spent many years working in the garment industry. She was the daughter of the late Grace McKinley Stone and Charles Bowers; the wife of John Harvey Elam; the mother of John, Jr; the sister of Hattie Simmons, Rosa Duncan, Dorothy Grier, Rosa Branch, Charlestina Bailey, Charles Bowers, and Garland Bowers; the stepdaughter of Clara McCloud and Mamie Bowers; and the friend of many.
