WEST NEW YORK —On Thursday, Sept. 2, the West New York Board of Commissioners will be holding a Dominican Restoration Celebration. The celebration, which will honor Jackie Mitnick, Ramon Enriquez, and Oscar Guerrero, will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the Municipal Chambers in Town Hall.
Restoration Day is typically celebrated in the Dominican Republic on Aug. 16 as a remembrance of the Dominican Restoration War which took place between 1863 and 1865 to stop Spain from colonizing the Dominican Republic.
