Working with diverse parties achieves new heights for district

Dear Editor:
I am writing in response to a Letter to the Editor, which was published in the Aug. 22 edition of the Union City Reporter and penned by P. Brennan, entitled Brian Stack is too cozy with Republicans. As usual, the Union City Reporter is irresponsible in informing the readership about the full identity of an author by offering only an initial letter instead of a first name, but I guess that’s better than the usual submissions by “Anonymous” or “Concerned Citizen.” Offering a full and complete name to accompany a Letter to the Editor alerts readers to prospective bias or ulterior motive in the expression of an opinion.
With regard to the message of said letter, I think it’s ridiculous how the author attempts to discredit me for working with members of another political party in order to achieve new heights for our district. It would be foolish and shortsighted to subscribe solely to party politics and neglect to conduct necessary business. Often, it is essential to work alongside members of another political party to accomplish important goals for the constituency.
As an office holder, it is my duty to make decisions and take actions that affect the lives of local residents. I think many will agree on my commitment to the best interests of those I was elected to serve, as I literally work seven days a week for residents, offering my cell phone number to the entire constituency in order to remain completely accessible to address a vast array of concerns.
Furthermore, I am grateful for the suggestions, input and constructive criticisms that are offered by residents. While I understand that there will always be a disgruntled few outsiders who wish to work against the objective of building an even stronger community, I find comfort and contentment in the overwhelming support that I receive from residents who share my vision of working together, with everyone, by putting politics aside, so that our neighborhoods continue to flourish.
