Hoboken will hold public meeting for western edge redevelopment plan

HOBOKEN —The city announced this afternoon that a public meeting to discuss the western edge redevelopment plan will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Jubilee Center, located at 601 Jackson St.
According to the press release, a draft for the redevelopment of the western edge was prepared in September 2008. However, the draft did not reflect the issues presented by the community.
“Too often in the past, redevelopment has been based only on what developers wanted rather than reflecting the community’s vision,” said Mayor Dawn Zimmer, in a press release. “By making public input a priority, we are enhancing the city’s negotiating advantage and providing greater control over the redevelopment process.”
The city revised the plan, and it will be made public prior to the Sept. 14 meeting. Residents are invited to view the revised plan, and then give additional input. The city will revise the redevelopment plan again after the Sept. 14 meeting.
