DWI arrest on Broadway

Tonya A. Weston, 43, of Staten Island, was arrested on Aug. 9 in Bayonne and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
A police spokesperson said Weston failed to stop when a police patrol observed her black Toyota weaving near 35th Street and Broadway at about 10:45 p.m.
When Weston finally pulled the car over near 29th Street, Weston allegedly smelled of alcohol and was so unsteady on her feet that she nearly fell when exiting the vehicle.
When transported to headquarters, Weston – according to the police – refused to take a breathalyzer test. She was charged with DWI, refusing to take the test, careless driving, and failure to wear a seat belt.

JC man charged with ‘assault with bodily fluids’

Duane A. Andrews, 34, of Claremont Avenue in Jersey City, faced several charges after being stopped at the 34th Street station of the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail for allegedly failing to provide a valid ticket.
A police spokesperson said Andrews allegedly gave them a false name and claimed to have no identification when they first asked him. He allegedly produced his identification and was brought to police headquarters and charged with theft of services and hindering arrest.
Once in the cell, Andrews allegedly urinated on the floor and attempted to splash police officers. He also allegedly spat through the bars of the cell at officers. He was later transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny, facing charges of assault with bodily fluids.

Jersey City boy charged with possessing stolen bicycle

Asking how such a thing could happen in Bayonne, the grandmother of a 9-year-old Bayonne boy told police that a boy completely dressed in black grabbed her grandson’s bicycle right in front of them and fled at about 3 p.m. on Aug. 13.
The grandmother and her grandson were seated near the fountain near Stephen Greg County Park by Kennedy Boulevard when a male teen dressed all in black snatched up the bicycle from the path in front of them and fled.
She told police that a second boy wearing a white shirt rode passed on another bicycle and seemed to be in the company of the first boy.
Putting the call out on the radio, the police stopped a boy wearing a white shirt on Avenue C, who was then riding the stolen bicycle.
Since he was not the teen who actually stole the bicycle, the 15-year-old Jersey City boy with the white shirt was charged only with receiving stolen property. The thief was not found.
