Provident Bank to move 160 people out of JCBut still looking for space downtown

JERSEY CITY — Provident Bank announced on Thursday it is closing its headquarters on Bergen Avenue in Jersey City, putting the building up for sale, and moving most of its corporate staff out of the city starting in March of next year.
The bank released a statement saying that the bank will open a new office in Metropark, a section of Woodbridge, where 280 employees will work, with 160 moving there from Jersey City. Also the bank will maintain their headquarters in Jersey City. And the company is still looking for office space to lease in downtown Jersey City.
Provident Bank was founded in Jersey City in 1839. The bank currently has seven branches in the city and a total of 15 in Hudson County, with over 170 employees. None of the other branches are expected to be impacted by the administrative changes. – RK
