A funeral mass was held July 21 at St. Lawrence R.C. Church for Irmgard Marano. She passed away July 16 in Hackensack. She was a wonderful woman who smiled and laughed often. Irmgard enjoyed taking care of her backyard garden which was always beautifully tended and was a quiet and colorful spot. Born and raised in Union City, Irmgard lived a beautiful and fulfilled life as the youngest daughter of Franz and Ottilie Blaschke, sister, mother, special aunt to her nieces, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed working and was actively involved in her senior group at her church, St. Lawrence in Weehawken. Irmgard was married to her husband Frank for 60 years, who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her brother Sig and her sister Elfie. Irmgard is survived by her children Denise Romano and her husband Joseph, Frank Marano and his wife Teresa, Barbara Patorniti and her husband Humberto, Catherine and her husband Thomas, and Gary Marano and his wife Elizabeth. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, her sisters Hilde Wilcox and Ilse Hermann and her husband Horst, and her nieces Erika, Karen and Caroline.
