Judge orders ‘Cake Boss’ to change name; fanaticism heats up near Hoboken bakery

HOBOKEN AND BEYOND — The 16-month-old reality TV show “Cake Boss,” which follows baker Buddy Valastro and his staff at Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, may have to change its name. The Hollywood Reporter said last week that a federal judge has ordered TLC to stop using that title, because a company called Masters Software has been selling a program of the same name since 2007 to help professional bakers with business management.
What do you think they will change the title to, if they must? Give us some guesses below!! Cake Chief? Bake Boss? They can’t use “Ace of Cakes” – it’s taken.
Meanwhile, the fan worship of the bakery and cast on Hoboken’s Washington Street has increased. A few days ago, a reporter witnessed a group of kids dart onto the Court Street alley behind the bakery upon seeing some bakery staff back there. One girl said, “I’m going to cry!” (Really!!)
And the line to get into the bakery has now been moved so that it runs down past the former Barnes & Noble on Washington Street, almost two city blocks. Click on the photos to see what it looked like last week.
