JACKSON, HAROLD

Funeral services took place June 16 at Monumental Baptist Church, Jersey City, for former Police Detective Harold Jackson “Tip”, 62. He passed away June 12. Harold was born to the late Harold Jackson “Pidgie” and Frances Jackson. He was a strong, determined man who worked tirelessly to provide for his wife, children and family. He truly was a jack of all trades holding down jobs such as watermelon peddler, construction worker, telephone repairman, and firefighter to name a few. Harold eventually accepted his call to be a Jersey City police officer and subsequently a narcotics detective. Though the work was strenuous and very demanding, he enjoyed it. He protected and served his family and community the best way he knew how. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sheila Jackson; five children, Tawana Tucker, Charisse Jackson, Lisa Jackson, Harold Jackson Jr. and Tia Jackson; one son-in-law, Donald Tucker; four grandchildren, Dexter Parmalee, Brianna Dickey, Mytaya Jackson and Quinton Jackson; six siblings, Sheila M. Jackson, Marsha Jackson Gaines, the late Pearl Jackson, Kevin Jackson, Rochelle Edwards and Lisa Moore; six brothers-in-law, Stanley Gaines, Franklin Walker, Cornelius Walker, George Walker, Johhny Edwards and Jimmy Forbes; 12 nephews; 15 nieces; and a host of great nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Watson Mortuary Service, Jersey City.
