The After School UWA Martial Arts Black Belt Leadership Academy offers the following classes.
Traditional Japanese Samurai Sword Training, Judo and Ju-Jutsu features Sensei Lenin Perdomo, a 25 year veteran originally from the Dominican Republic. He is an internationally certified Japanese Judo black belt, Miyama Ken-Jutsu black belt, and national Miyama-Ryu Ju-Jutsu black belt instructor. He will teach the secrets of the classical Japanese martial arts.
Traditional Yoga from India features Guru Veena Rani Chopra. Yoga refers to a certain state of consciousness, as well as to methods that help one reach that goal or state of union with the divine. The benefits of yoga are numerous. Some of the benefits of yoga include anti-aging (slow aging process), balance and flexibility of body, increase in knowledge and wealth, improvement in mental health and development of personal and social values. It also helps in improving strength, sexual life and reducing weight.
UWA Dance Fitness features Priscilla Wright, who will teach you dance moves to burn off those calories. Dance your way through the summer for a fit, lean body with Latin music, reggae, freestyle and house.
In addition to the offered classes, Grandmaster Dr. Austin Wright Sr. is presently seeking athletes to tryout for the U.S. National Martial Arts Team “Alliance” for all styles and all ranks in the state of New Jersey. He is presently preparing for U.S. Open Regional Martial Arts Tournament Charity for St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital on Nov. 20, and Karate Nationals in Atlantic City in July 2010. Tryouts will be ongoing throughout the year. All styles and all systems are welcome. Coaches and organizers are also needed for team support.
