Funeral services were held June 17 at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Sumrall, Mississippi, for Jerry Walker, 63. He died June 11 at Jersey City Medical Center. Born in Sumrall, Mississippi, the son of Rebecca (Sanders) and the late Shump Walker, he lived in New York before moving to Jersey City in 1980. He had worked in the textile industry for Wire O Binding Co., New York City. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam. He received the Vietnam service medal with three Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge and Rifle Marksman award for services rendered. He was a member of the American Legion Post 33 in New Jersey. He was the husband of Winnie Zaloga Walker; father of Jason and Samantha; and brother of Henrietta Hurst, Annie Walker, May Copeland, Rita Harris, James, Aaron, Danny, David and the late Ernest Walker.
