UNION CITY AND BEYOND – A WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) rookie – who earlier this month appeared to take an announcer’s necktie and pull it around the announcer’s neck — is scheduled to appear at an upcoming wrestling event in Union City.
Earlier this week, WWE announced that first season rookie Bryan Danielson (also known as Daniel Bryan) would be released from his contract as of June 11. Wrestling insiders have speculated that it was because of the July 7 incident.
Many fans and wrestling insiders had deemed Danielson, who has been wrestling professionally since 1999 and has held numerous championships in independent promotions, to be a promising rookie in his appearances on NXT (a program produced by the WWE that pairs matches rookies with pros to develop their characters and performances skills).
According to reports by Wrestling Observer and f4wonline, Danielson was released because of the necktie incident during a WWE Raw match on June 7. The ring announcer was not injured. Online chatter among fans has said that a company policy was put in place after the 2007 double murder/suicide of former WWE star Chris Benoit, who took the life of his wife and 7-year old son. Fans said that company policy forbids on-air talent from choking or strangling another performer with ropes or similar objects.
Just days after his release from the WWE contract, Danielson was put on the card for the upcoming wrestling event, “EVOLVE 4,” at Ace Arena in Union City on July 23. His opponent is “to be announced.”
