Three people hurt as car hits bus on Avenue C in Bayonne

BAYONNE — An 88-year old woman suffered abrasions to the head and a 76-year-old man suffered cuts on his feet or legs in an accident on Sunday, according to the Bayonne police.
A green Ford Explorer plowed through a stop sign near 15 th Street and Avenue C, hitting a bus, which then struck a number of additional parked cars, police said.
The two elderly people were among three passengers on the Academy who were transported to Bayonne Medical Center on June 13.
According to the police, James Vallese, 21, of Bayonne, said the brakes on the Explorer failed. The impact caused the bus traveling southbound on Avenue C to veer to the opposite lane, where it struck numerous parked cars, the police said.
They said no charges have yet been filed.
