JERSEY CITY — The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) announced last week that a teenager from Minnesota will be jogging on New Jersey roadways in the next few days.
Jasmine Jordan, 17, of Dalton, Minnesota was expected to cross into New Jersey from Wilmington, Delaware Friday. She expects to keep running about 20 miles daily until she reached New York City Tuesday. The trip began in September in Los Angeles.
Motorists wereadvised of her arrival in New Jersey to promote safety for all who share the roadways. Jasmine’s father has accompanied her in a truck which he drives in the right lane of roadways at low speeds, remaining just behind her.
Jordan expected to run along Route 130 to North Brunswick, along Route 27 to Newark, and on Route 1&9 Truck into Jersey City. In Hudson County, the plan is to take John F. Kennedy Boulevard to Route 63 (Bergen Boulevard) to Palisades Avenue. Pending approval of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Jordan will run across the George Washington Bridge prior to completing her trip in Midtown Manhattan.
