Teen allegedly stabs another after argument
A teenager was arrested after he allegedly stabbed another on Bergenline Avenue after an argument, said police.
North Bergen Detective Bureau Commander Frank Cannella said that a 15-year-old West New York male allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old North Bergen male after the two had “exchanged words” throughout the day on June 6.
At 7:30 p.m. police responded to a call of a stabbing on Bergenline Avenue, near the Hudson City Savings Bank. Cannella said that the arrested youth, who is known to the department, allegedly stabbed the victim in the right inner thigh.
“The victim was able to fight off the [alleged] attacker,” said Cannella. “That’s when the [alleged] attacker ran away and threw the knife [into the bushes].”

He said that the victim had known his alleged attacker since kindergarten.
When police went to the home of the 15-year-old to arrest him, he allegedly “…did confirm that he just stabbed someone on Bergenline Avenue,” said Cannella.
Cannella said that the victim was treated for his injuries at Palisades Medical Center and released.
You snooze, you lose
Two men were arrested and charged with alleged possession of marijuana after falling asleep in a parked car, Cannella said.
According to Cannella, on June 7 at 2:30 a.m., Capt. Robert Hovan was patrolling when he noticed a black Nissan parked on Meadowview Avenue whose brake lights kept going on and off.
Hovan reported that he observed two individuals sleeping in the car. He woke up the passenger, Michael Woomera, of Jersey City, who allegedly had an open bottle of beer in the car. The driver, Joshua Diaz of North Bergen, allegedly had in his possession a plastic bag of what appeared to be marijuana, police said.
Cannella said that Woomera had a warrant for his arrest in North Bergen due to an alleged failure to appear in court.
Diaz was issued a summons for having an open container and controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He was also charged criminally for possessing a controlled dangerous substance and was released.
Woomera was criminally charged with possession of marijuana and was held on his active warrant.
