A funeral mass took place June 4 at St. Patrick’s Church for Sara Ruth Anderson, 78. She succumbed to cancer on May 30 in her Jersey City home surrounded by family and friends. Sara was born in Sumter, S.C. She was the daughter of Jack Keith and Hattie L. Keith who are both deceased. Sara worked as a health aide at Aids Resources in Jersey City for several years until her retirement in 1997. After her retirement, Sara her life to charitable activities at St. Patrick’s Church in Jersey City. She was a devout member of Saint Patrick’s for more than 30 years. Sara loved helping others and often said that her proudest achievement was creating a program that served Christmas dinner to more than 100 needy families each year. Sara is survived by three siblings, five children, one grandchild, a host of friends, and fellow parishioners. She touched the lives of many.
