Reality show crossroads: ‘Cake Boss’ meets ‘Jersey Shore’ in Hudson County

BAYONNE AND BEYOND — Crowds gathered outside Boun Appetito Restaurant in Bayonne on June 2 to get a glimpse of Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of the MTV reality show “Jersey Shore,” who was celebrating a belated Mother’s Day with her mother. A cake was delivered by another reality show superstar, Hoboken baker Buddy “Cake Boss” Valastro.
Chanting “Snooki, Snooki, Snooki,” kids from Bayonne High School and elsewhere began gathering around 5 p.m. and remained outside the store for almost four hours until Polizzi and the Cake Boss came out.
The “Cake Boss” reality show began its third season this past Monday, while “Jersey Shore” will return for a second season this summer.
In the four photos, pictured are Snooki crowning her mother, Helen, waiting for Cake Boss to arrive from Carlo’s City Hall Bake Shop to deliver the surprise cake . Also pictured is Snooki signing autographs for some of the invited guests – many of whom were family members of the restaurant owner. Later, the Cake Boss appeared outside to sign autographs for fans waiting on the sidewalk.
