A memorial service was held May 22 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, North Bergen, for Julia Walker. She died May 8 in Mineral Point, Wis., where she resided with her granddaughter Jolie, her husband Alfedo and their children for the last nine months. She previously lived in North Bergen for about 70 years. Prior to her retiring Julia worked at Campus Sportswear and many years ago worked at Pleasant Cleaners on 43rd Street in North Bergen, and was known to many as “Julie from Pleasant Cleaners”. Julia is survived by her daughter, Dawn Taistra from North Bergen. Also surviving are her greatly grandchildren, Wayne Taistra in East Brunswick, Michael Taistra in Helmetta, and Jolie Jimenez in Mineral Point, Wis. Julia is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Andrew Taistra, Julia and Alfredo Jimenez, Rebekkah and Evan Taistra and Madison Taistra. Her surviving siblings are Daniel and Steve Chabay and Rosella Deitz. She was predeceased by her parents Sophie and Daniel Chabay, siblings John Chabay, Sophie Ragas, Helen Pataky, Margaret Szoke and Carol Piovane.
