They could…go…all…the…way!

Hundreds of people gathered at the Weehawken Waterfront Complex on May 15 to watch nearly 200 students from grades one through six participate in the 10th annual Junior Olympics.
Students were able to choose their own events and participate in up to three field, two running, and one relay event during the daylong competition.

“The Junior Olympics is a great event because it meets the needs of so many different children with so many types of skills,” said Mayor Richard Turner last week. “It fosters healthy competition while maintaining good sportsmanship.”
Students are taught the proper techniques of the events in their respective gym classes each year and have the opportunity to practice before the event.
This year, the events were manned by over 90 volunteers, including Stevens Institute Coach John Crawford, 20 high school baseball players, and 11 peer leadership students.
