NORTH BERGEN — According to North Bergen Police, a North Bergen man who asked people outside of his house to leave two nights ago was then allegedly attacked by the same people.
On May 18 at 1:25 a.m. a 24-year-old North Bergen man observed four Hispanic males fighting outside of his house on Bergenline Avenue, said Capt. Gerald Sanzari. Sanzari said that the victim and his cousin stepped outside and asked the men to leave, but then one male, later identified by police as Cesar Castillo, 21, of Union City, allegedly threw a bottle at him, which struck his elbow. Afterward one unidentified male fled the scene.
When the victim’s cousin came to his aid, the three remaining men allegedly began to punch and kick him.
“[They allegedly said] ‘don’t [expletive] with us, we are MS-13,’” said Sanzari, explaining that the gang is a known as violent.
After officers arrived on the scene, the victim was able to identify the actors. Police said they were Castillo, Edgar Ariel, 20, of West New York and Carlos Valdez, 22, of Union City.
They were all placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault and their bail was set at $4,000 with the option of a ten-percent bond by Judge Joseph Romano. – Tricia Tirella
