Funeral services took place May 6 at Grace Apostolic Church, Jersey City, for Cherry Lee Newton of Burlington Township, formerly of Newark. She passed away May 2, in Philadelphia, Pa. She was retired from the U.S. Post Office in Kearny after six years of service and was employed for 18 years as a data entry clerk for Petrie Store, Inc. in Secaucus. She was a member of Grace Apostolic Church for 38 years, where she served as treasurer of Trustee Board and president of Renaissance Choir. She was the wife of Leo F. Newton; mother of Leo F. Newton II, Minister Daphne A. Newton, Lekiba S. Newton-Mahama and the late Franiel V. Newton; daughter of the late William A. and Pastor Norlee S. Green; sister of Kenneth Devant Greene and Shirley A. Watson; grandmother of Rakiya S. Mahama, and mother-in-law of Mustapha Mahama. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services arranged by the Watson Mortuary Service, Jersey City.
