Fair/Foul Ball

Question: In high school baseball and softball, batter hits ground ball, which bounces fair before third base then passes directly over third and lands foul. Fair or foul ball?
Answer: Ball is judged fair when on fair ground and bounding over the base into outfield. (BB – Rule 2, Sec. 5, Art. 1 (c); SB- Rule 2, Sec. 20, Art. 1(b))
Question: Batted ball dribbles in front of homeplate, backspins and settles untouched on the place. Fair or foul ball?
Answer: Ball settling/coming to rest on homeplate is considered a fair ball and remains in play. Fair territory is measured from tip to homeplate to each base and extended foul line to foul pole. (BB- Rule 2-5-1(a); SB- Rule 2-20-1(a); Rule 2-22-2)
