Dear Editor:
Crime is a concern to cities like Detroit Michigan, Newark New Jersey, Cleveland Ohio, Los Angeles California, Saint Louis Missouri, Philadelphia Pennsylvania and many other Major Cities in the United States. Crime in Union City is a concern to everyone also.
As an active resident of my community I find statistics that reflect a decline in Robbery 213 in 2006 and 157(Robbery) in 2008; Motor Vehicle Theft 240 in 2006 and only 156(Motor Vehicle Theft) in 2008.
Mayor Brian P. Stack has influenced the Police Department that the police Department has introduced the following methods to lesson crime activity. Union City has a curfew for children not to be in the streets after Ten p.m. Additional Plainclothes Officers Added to protect the streets. This method allows officers to search for crime in progress and suspicious persons.
Residents can feel safer than in past years, as Mayor and State Senator Brian P. Stack and the local Police Department have spent endless hours in an effort to reduce the local crime rate and needless to say- It has made an impact in our community.
This May 11, 2010 Mayor and State Senator Brian P. Stack and the Board of Commissioners are seeking re-election. The Community has an easy decision. If we all want a better Union City in the years to come, then Mayor Stack and the Commissioners are the answer to represent all of us. As concerned citizens we should not take this important local election lightly; there is a lot at stake. History tells us that it is the cities that are the backbone of this great Nation that makes America strong and in order for us to continue to lead the World we need to elect individuals that will sacrifice their time for the betterment of their cities.
With Respect,
Mark A. Cordero
