One enchanted evening

The Secaucus High School musical returns to tradition this year with “South Pacific.” The Rodgers and Hammerstein classic tells the story of several characters on an unnamed Pacific island during World War II.
At the heart of the drama is the love story between Nellie, a U.S. military nurse, and Emile, a single father and Frenchman who owns a plantation.
Nurses, sailors, and local islanders fill out the cast of characters that also includes Bloody Mary, Luther Billis, and Lt. Cable.
At a dress rehearsal Monday night, the cast and crew worked on set movement and ran through the musical’s many memorable tunes.
“South Pacific” is being performed this weekend: Friday, April 16 at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 17 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, April 18 at 3 p.m., at the Arthur F. Couch Performing Arts Center.
