NJ Transit 25 percent increase could be devastating

Dear Editor,
In the article post on www.hudsonreporter.com Thursday March 25 by E. Assata Wright titled ‘NJ Transit to hold fare hike hearing in Secaucus Friday’ it shows exactly how some companies aspire to get out of debits by raising fares and service cuts and penalizing their customers for it. Some of the fares will drastically increase 25 percent, meaning that if I as a commuter pay $1.75 to get from North Bergen to Secaucus I will now be paying a total of $2.19, an increase of about 40 cents per trip. I find this utterly ridiculous, knowing that the economy is so bad.
What would happen if more people decide to boycott the busses? That company would go into further debits. I think everyone has to be rational about the increase the company is trying to place on the customer. I wouldn’t mind a 10 percent raise but an increase of a 25 percent could really leave my pocket and many other customers pockets devastated at the end of the day.
