Thanks – Hoboken St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Dear Editor:
On Saturday, March 6, 2010, the City of Hoboken had its annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade has been a long standing tradition in Hoboken that celebrates both the Irish Heritage and the community as a whole.
Similar to years past, this day attracted thousands of visitors and residents alike to the City of Hoboken who took part in the celebration. Based on the unusual large crowds and the apparent quality of life concerns that are present on this day, the Hoboken Police Department and public safety in general faced a significant challenge. The primary goal of this department was to ensure that the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade was both an enjoyable and safe day for everyone who was in attendance.
In anticipation of this day, the police department conducted extensive planning and countless hours of preparation in an effort to control and combat the safety and quality of life problems that have been evident in years past. I personally want to commend my command level personnel for their hard work in assisting and developing a solid plan of action.
Although planning for an event of this magnitude is never an easy task, I want to personally thank each and every member of the Hoboken Police Department who took great pride and commitment to ensure it was carried out successfully. The level of professionalism, the pro-active approach to potential quality of life problems and the quick and expedient enforcement was evident.
In addition, I would also like to give special thanks to the following agencies for their coordination, assistance and professionalism displayed during the planning phase of this day and the implementation of manpower: Stevens Police Department, Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, Hudson County Rapid Deployment Team (R.D.F.), New Jersey Transit Police, Port Authority Police Department, Hudson County Municipal Police Agencies and their respective Chiefs, Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Hoboken Fire Department, Hoboken Traffic & Signal Division, and the Department of Public Works.

Sincerely,
Anthony P. Falco Sr.
Hoboken Police Department
Chief of Police
