Energy company holding public meetings on controversial pipelinePosted March 5, 2010

JERSEY CITY, BAYONNE AND BEYOND — Spectra Energy Corp., based in Houston, Tex., plans to hold public meetings locally about a proposed 16-mile pipeline extension through Bayonne and Jersey City. The line would allow natural gas to flow from its existing metering and regulating station in Staten Island, N.Y., through Hudson County into Manhattan.
But there is opposition to the project from officials such as City Councilman Steven Fulop and most recently, Mayor Jerramiah Healy.
The public can attend the following meetings:
Tuesday, March 9 – Jersey City
6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at P.S. 9 – Gym 222 Mercer St.

Monday, March 15 – Bayonne
6 p.m. – 8 p.m. CWV Post 1612
18 West 23rd St., Bayonne
(Public parking across the street.)

Wednesday, March 17th – Bayonne
6 p.m. – 8 p.m. – Trinity Church (Trinity Parish in Bergen Point)
