A mass of Christian burial was held Feb. 23 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, Houston, Texas, for Peter Damian Devery, 64. He passed away Feb. 17 after waging a 16-year battle with cancer. A resident of Katy, Texas, Peter spent his youth in Hoboken and moved to Texas on a scholarship from Kilgore College. He was employed by Aramark Services in Houston for 17 years, and had previously worked for Ben E. Keith, a distributor for Anheuser-Busch in Fort Worth and Abilene, Texas. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Devery; his brother Eugene, and his stepson Ray Ybarra III. Peter is survived by his wife, Laurel; daughters Kelli Goodman, Jennifer Janson, and Marissa Garza; stepson Roland Ybarra; sister Marita Moynihan; brothers Justin Devery, John Devery, and Hugh Devery; ten grandchildren: Kristopher, Joleen, Tyler, Devery, Nicholas, Kenleigh, Kadien, Roland, Hunter, and Alexis, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues and friends.
