West Side Story? Staten Islanders come to Bayonne to avenge girlfriend, police say

HUDSON COUNTY — Police claim that a group of people including some from Staten Island came to Bayonne on Feb. 20 to avenge a girlfriend being spat upon at some earlier date.
Several 911 calls informed the police that a fight was taking place at about 5:16 p.m. on West Second Street about a block west of Broadway. The police said they arrived to find Yamil Gonzalez, 31, of Bayonne and Michael Lewis, 19, of Staten Island allegedly facing off against each other with knives.
Police said Dhalisa Lozada, 26, of Bayonne, allegedly drove a group of people into Bayonne from Staten Island to confront Gonzalez over an alleged spitting incident. But they found Gonzalez’s girlfriend on nearby Kelly Parkway and allegedly punched her, knocked her to the ground, and kicked her.
At this point, Gonzalez arrived with Justin Manieri, 24, of Bayonne, and William Delrio, 25, of Bayonne. In an alleged scuffle before the police arrived, Delrio was apparently stabbed in the hand and was later treated for a puncture wound.
As a result, Lozada along with Bayonne resident Hildreth Fleming, 36, and Staten Island residents Manieri and Enrico Pedraza, 25, Paul Dumont, and Michael Lewis, 19, and two 17-year-olds were charged with riot.
Lewis, Gonzalez and the two 17-year-olds were charged with aggravated assault. Lozada’s car was impounded for allegedly use in the commission of a crime. Lewis and Gonzalez were also charged with weapons possession.
