A mass of Christian burial was held Feb. 13 at St. Michael’s R.C. Church in Cranford for Edward J. Maguire, Jr., 74. He died Feb. 8 at his residence. Mr. Maguire was a police officer with the Jersey City Police Dept. for 26 years, retiring in 1988. He was a founder and the former president of the Jersey City Police Emerald Society. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Cranford before moving to Scotch Plains. Mr. Maguire is survived by his wife Catherine M. Maguire; three sons, Edward J., III, Francis H., and Michael W.; three daughters, Susan Elizabeth Delsandro, Kelly M. Carovillano and Jennifer C. Burns; 10 grandchildren; a brother Michael, and two sisters, Kathleen Hannigan and Mary Huber. Services arranged by the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, Westfield.
