Dominican heritage events in JC

The Jersey City Juan Pablo Duarte Dominican Parade and Festival Board will be holding two events. First, a Dominican independence celebration at Middle School 4 on Bright Street on Tuesday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Then, a Dominican flag raising at City Hall, 280 Grove St. on Thursday, February 25 from 6 – 8 p.m. For more information, call (201) 432-9498.

Event at Apple Tree House

The Jersey City George Washington Commemorative Society will host its 26th Annual Apple Tree House event on February 15, 11 a.m., on Academy Street, just west of Bergen Avenue, behind the C-Town Supermarket in Jersey City.

Folk dance troupe performing at Loew’s Jersey

Colorful costumes, traditional music, and exotic dances will be highlights of a special appearance by the Egyptian National Folkloric Dance Troupe at the landmark Loew’s Jersey Theatre, 54 Journal Square in Jersey City.
The 2 p.m. performance on Sunday, Feb. 28, is co-sponsored by the Consulate General of Egypt in New York. The event is part of Jersey City’s Tapestry of Nations series and is paid for, in whole or in part, by the Jersey City Urban Enterprise Zone Program.
Advance tickets can be purchased online at www.loewsjersey.org (General Admission $20) and by calling 800-440-7654. Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the performance (General Admission $25). Discounts will be available to children under 12, students with ID and seniors 62 and over with ID for $10. Discounts will also be offered to groups of 10 or more, also for $10 per person. The cost of parking for ticket holders will be reduced for the event to just $5 at Square Ramp Parking, located directly behind the theatre.

Hudson Chamber announces new board members

Last week, the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce announced the election of several individuals to the organization’s Board of Trustees. The election of these new Trustees continues an effort started in the last year to reshape the organization and increase the relevancy of the chamber and its members to the communities throughout Hudson County.
The following individuals were named: Eugene R. Boffa Jr., equity member of Schumann Hanlon, LLC; Anthony Cammarata Jr., managing director and global head of Facilities Management for Goldman; Connie Claman of Union County, CFO and VP of resource administration at The Liberty Science Center in Jersey City; Patrick A. Cozza of Somerset County, CEO and regional head of HSBC Insurance for HSBC-North America; Matthew Dorans of Hudson County, VP of In-Line Air Conditioning Co. Inc and president of the Bayonne Chamber of Commerce; Maria L. Nieves of Bergen County, director of public affairs and site regional leader at Fidelity Investments; Michael A. Raimonde of Union County, Senior VP and director of retail banking for The Provident Bank, and James J. Sansevero of New York City, director of brand management for Lord, Abbett & Co.
The Hudson County Chamber of Commerce has served the Hudson County business community since 1888.
