Blizzardmania

Cascades of white swirled through Hoboken last week and left more than 12 inches of snow. The blizzard kept kids out of school for two days, shut down City Hall for a day, and sent many employees home early as the storm picked up intensity Wednesday afternoon.
City plows started canvassing the city in the early hours of Wednesday morning and worked past midnight on Thursday, a 24-hour shift that was so successful in clearing Hoboken’s streets that trash trucks were able to pick up on Wednesday night.

The city received accolades for snow removal from local television news crews, according to John Pope, the city’s outgoing director of environmental services.
