HOBOKEN — Hoboken City Hall is allowing residents to park from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday nights in one of three city garages for a $5 all-night price, due to the oncoming snow.
When it snows, they try to keep “emergency routes” open; therefore, anyone is subject to being towed during the day if they are on the designated sides of those streets. To see if your street is affected, read the signage. Emergency routes include part or all of the following: Washington Street, Willow Avenue, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 13th streets, and possibly other streets.
As for parking in the garages, normally, those with resident permits can park in them from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. for $5. Due to the blizzard, the city is extending the time until 10 a.m.
As for whether street cleaning rules will be in effect – you can check the city’s website each morning for details.
For more information, check the City Hall website and check the signage on your street.
“The safest bet is to go into the garage,” Mayor Dawn Zimmer said Tuesday afternoon.
Seniors who can’t get their medicine or need other emergency assistance during working hours (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) can contact the City at 201-420-2054 or 201-420-2055. (**Those having an urgent MEDICAL emergency should always call 911). Watch the city website or call City Hall for more information.
