Corruption in Healy administration

Dear Editor:
Eventually all roads lead to Rome, and so does all corruption. As the suspended Deputy Mayor Leona Beldini corruption trial continues, it raises additional ugly information, with continued accusations centering on Jersey City’s Mayor Jeremiah Healy and his Administration. When anyone breaks the law, especially with government officials, in full view after years of neglect and disrespect for the law and for their constituents; it increases over confidences of non-compliance, giving the perpetrators a false sense of invincibility.
Throughout the history of this Administration, it showed a potential reality of being unscrupulous. The main observation of this was the caliber involved of the Jersey City Council. They were mostly comprised of “Do Nothing, Has Been, Political Hacks”, with questionable blood sucking characteristics, bought and sold by the Mayor.
How many of them were given and offered additional public incomes and positions, with the City or the County government? How many of them have secret employment and dealings in the private sector? How many of them have offered and approved meaningless or no show jobs, contracts, to their family, friends or business associates, in lieu of favors, absorbing unmercifully the City’s budget? Why did the Mayor increase his unnecessary Deputy Mayor positions, at taxpayers’ expense? Why are the taxes continuing to rise, blaming the present low paid municipal employees, punishing them with furloughs, when corruption at the higher level is running rampart.
The only Councilman, not associated, is Steve Fulop, giving him a lot of credit; he donates his salary by giving it back to the community. This Official, because he wouldn’t play ball with Mayor Healy and his unscrupulous puppets of social thievery was ridiculed on most of his positive initiatives. The sad mentality of this Administration is if anyone can’t be bought, sold, or take any money, then that individual obviously can’t be trusted.
One of the biggest slaps in the face to the residence of Jersey City came from Mariano Vega, who continues his tainted presence as Councilman-at-large, holding all rights and privileges, while being tattooed with a federal charge. At least try to show a sign of good faith, Mr. Mayor, even if you don’t want or demand your loyal municipal cohort to resign from his office. The rightful thing would have suspended and censor him without pay, and naturally discontinuing any and all of his duties until he is either proclaimed innocent or guilty in a court of law.
If he is found innocent then he can be given his just retroactive pay, but if he is found guilty, then taxpayers aren’t burdened in paying for his deceitful despicable actions and continued mugging of their hard earned tax money. He did resign his post as President of the City Council, considered only as a non-effecting pacifier.
Remember Absolute power corrupts, and corruption is absolute power. The Mayor must be either part of the problem, a fool or a mindless idiot if he didn’t realize that his Administration was a den full of thieves.
