FYLAK, RITA E

A funeral mass was celebrated Jan. 16 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Jersey City, for Rita E. Fylak, 71, of Milton, Fla., formerly of Jersey City. She passed away Jan. 11 with family in Atlantic Highlands. She was born in Jersey City and moved to Cliffwood in 1963 where she resided until retiring with her spouse to Florida in 1994 where she enjoyed walking on the beach and collecting seashells. A lifelong Roman Catholic, Rita attended Our Lady of Czestochowa School and St. Dominic Academy both in Jersey City. She also studied piano at Julliard Academy and enjoyed playing throughout her lifetime. After raising her family of three children she obtained her associates degree while working for Dr. Shore in Aberdeen. She continued to work in the medical field for Prudential and U.S. Life as an insurance claims processor. She married William Fylak in 1955 and remained his faithful companion for over 54 years. She was a former parishioner of St. Joseph’s Parish in Keyport and a communicant of St. Rose of Lima in Milton Fla. Rita is survived by her husband William, and her son and daughter-in-law William J. and Divina of Ocean; her son and daughter-in-law Brian and Linda of Charlotte, NC, and daughter Lynn of Atlantic Highlands; three grandchildren, her brother Richard Wiack, and many nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Visitation will be at Bromirski Funeral Home, Jersey City.
