A celebration of the life of Alfred Clay, Sr. took place Jan. 18 at the Porter Memorial C.O.G.I.C., Jersey City. He passed away Jan. 12 peacefully and quietly, with his nephew Elder Joseph Hines by his bedside. He was the husband of Geraldine Clay; father of Nari, Inayyah, Gerald, Van, Bashir, Janal, Alfretir Clay, and Aisha Clay Whitley; grandfather of 27, and great grandfather of 34; brother of Ana Mae Benthall, Lubertha Hines, Pauline Hill; brother-in-law of Elder Garrison Hines and Willie Hill; nephew of Eleanor Benthall, and is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Alfred Clay, Jr. and two sisters, Rosalee Rivers and Thelma Shaw. Services arranged by the The Family Funeral Home, Newark.
