UPDATED: Christie’s transition team claims Hoboken University Medical Center will closeBut hospital denies report

HOBOKEN — NJ.com posted an article today stating that they have obtained a report from new Gov. Chris Christie’s transition team that says that they expect Hoboken University Medical Center, Hoboken’s only hospital, to close within a few months. The report is meant to complain about the previous administration’s recent decision to award a $7 million stabilization grant awarded to the hospital. It chastises former Gov. Jon Corzine for this possible misdirection of aid.
However, hospital spokeswoman Joan Quigley told the Reporter this afternoon that the transition team never contacted the hospital for any information, and that the hospital will “absolutely not” close.
