Bayonne city clerk sends out instructions for candidates

BAYONNE —Robert Sloan, city clerk for Bayonne, issued instructions for potential candiates today, setting the requirements for running in the May municipal elections. The number of required signatures based on the voter registry from the past General Election of Nov. 3, 2009 is as follows: Mayor – 326, Council Member at Large – 326, Council Member – First Ward – 114, Council Member – Second Ward – 102 and Council Member – Third Ward – 110. The candidates will also have to include the name of a campaign manager and the request for a ballot position.
March 18 is the last day to file nominating petitions and related documents. March 24 is the last day to correct deficiencies in nominating petitions as noted by the City Clerk. April 20 is the last day to register in order to vote at Municipal Election. April 27 is the last day to file for challengers. The municipal election will be held on Tueday, May 11.
