A funeral mass was celebrated Dec. 31 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Jersey City, for Joseph C. “Moon” Castagna, 78, a life long resident of Jersey City. He passed away Dec. 27 at Bayside Manor, Keansburg. Joseph was a Jersey City police officer for 36 years, stationed outside of Dickinson High School. Joseph was the husband of the late Jean (DiToro); the father of Joseph A. Jr. and wife Rosalind Castagna and Janet Paris; the grandfather of Andrew, Genie, Joelle, Lauren, Joseph III and Anthony; the brother of Rachael King and the late Carmine Castagna; the brother-in-law of John King, Joyce Castagna, Rose Cappadona, Pompy and her late husband Amody DiToro; the uncle of Philip, Susan, Jeanine, Joseph, Elena, Joanne, Anthony, Barbara, Jean and Linda, and the nephew of Nettie Apruzzese.
