Dear Editor:
On behalf of the typhoon victims of the Philippines, the Board of Directors of FIL-Aid and its outreach partners, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all the financial and donation in kind donors, collection centers and to all the volunteers from the Filipino Society and other Fil-Aid network organizations in nearby towns, for their help in making FIL-Aid’s typhoon relief campaign a huge success. My special thanks in particular to Wrap-A-Smile Foundation of Secaucus and Head Dress New York, for their generous in kind donations, which combined with about 2,000 lbs. of rice purchased from monetary contributions. Fil-Aid was able to send about 500 Survival/Relief packages to the typhoon victims. These care packages, together with about 80 boxes of new and used clothing, shoes, and canned goods are expected to arrive in Manila any day soon for distribution to various relief agencies engaged in the ongoing relief, rehabilitation, and rebuilding efforts. The timing of the arrival of these goods close to this coming holiday season makes these donations not only a gift of compassion but also a Christmas gift that will surely touch the hearts and bring joy and holiday spirit to these typhoon battered victims.
