STATEWIDE — TV watchers and tabloid newspapers have been abuzz about last week’s premiere of the MTV reality show “Jersey Shore,” which was taped in the summer at Seaside Heights, N.J. MTV put a group of tanned, club-loving young people in a beach house — most of whom are NOT actually from New Jersey — and billed the show as a summer in the life of the “tannest, hottest Guidos” around. Some Italian groups found the word “Guido” offensive.
Last week’s premiere showed the men and women bulking up, baring their buffed bodies, and engaging in promiscuity. Now folks are even more outraged, according to Fox news.
Fox reported that “The MTV building in Times Square was getting crazy threats and they are in the process of hiring more security [and] bodyguards,” according to an insider.
Oh, really? Over a bad reality show?
According to the Daily News, “On Tuesday, a spokesperson for MTV responded to the rumors, but said everything was fine at their headquarters. He denied the insider’s claim entirely, saying that the company ‘has not received any death threats.’ ”
However, at least one pizza company has reportedly pulled its advertising from the show.
