Rule number one: Don’t assault a cop’s son

HOBOKEN–According to a police report, three males in their early twenties were arrested in the early morning of Thanksgiving around 2:30 a.m. after they allegedly trespassed onto private property and allegedly assaulted the son of a local police officer and a city councilwoman.
According to a police report, the 25-year-old victim was walking home to Hudson Street on Thursday, Nov. 26, when he observed a group of males allegedly kicking and pushing a street sign. Then, according to the report, he saw one of the men go into his gate and enter his back yard. When the victim entered his back yard, he saw the man allegedly urinating.
The victim told police after he entered his back yard, two other males followed him and began assaulting him. However, he was able to get into his house. His father, off duty Police Officer Robert Castellano, heard the commotion, came downstairs, and saw the three men get into a car.
However, the car was blocked from escape by a cab in front of it.
A total of five males were in the group.
Two Hudson County Sherrif’s Officers were on patrol and arrived at the location, along with Hoboken police.
The victim had swelling to his face and cuts, according to the police report. He was assisted by the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Squad.
When the victim was able to gather his thoughts, he was able to point out three men whom he said had assaulted him.
The three men, two of whom were from Plainfield and one of whom was from Edison, were arrested and charged with aggravated assault and criminal trespass. One of those three also received a citation for urinating in public.
