Thank you, Officer Czapola

To the Editor:
My sister and I would like to thank Officer Joe Czapola No. 149 for his actions in her time of need.
On Aug. 11, 2009, our mother passed away. My sister found her when she came home from work. She called 911 immediately, and the paramedics and Officer Joe Czapola responded. At the time, I was out of the country and she had no immediately family in the area. My sister was extremely shaken and upset. After our mother was taken and the paramedics left, Officer Joe Czapola stayed with her until my son arrived. Before he left, he gave my sister his personal phone number and told her if she needed to she could get in touch with him and he would return.
In this day and age where you see and hear mostly negatives, it is comforting to know there are still caring people willing to help strangers.
We will always remember Officer Joe Czapola, and he will remain in our payers. Again, thanks for your kindness and compassion to my sister in her time of need.
