Four new outfits

Police said a recent increase in shoplifting arrests are may be attributable to bad economy.
In an incident at Burlington Coat Factory in Hoboken, two suspects are accused of taking four t-shirts, three pairs of jeans, four watches, and a necklace, all totaling nearly $200.
Police arrested Ashley Medina, 24, Hoboken, and Alexander Rosario, 22, of Jersey City, for shoplifting after a security guard for the store heard the suspects allegedly snapping off price tags in the changing room, according to Lt. Det. Mark Competello.

Couch on Craigslist

Police said that a Hoboken woman selling her couch on Craigslist received a bad check for $3,180 last week. They could not say if the couch was picked up.
Police are investigating, Lt. Det. Mark Competello said, but warn against online scammers.

$3,340 in items swiped from apartment

An apartment was burglarized on Wednesday Oct. 28. Police were called to 233 Clinton St. on report of a break-in. Victims told police that a camera, laptop, and bookbag were taken while they were out of the apartment.
Police are investigating the burglary and theft of movable property charge, although no suspects have been found. The items total $3,340, Competello said.

Trick or…trick

On Wednesday, Oct. 28, police arrested Antonio Rodriguez, 18, of Bayonne, along with a juvenile, for allegedly stealing candy from the ShopRite days before Halloween.

Another bar patron served

Police arrested a man for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest on Monday, Oct. 26 outside Green Rock, 70 Hudson St.
Competello said police arrived to find Richard Falco, 30, of Hoboken, in a heated exchange with security guards. Falco allegedly refused to leave when asked to do so by the responding officers.
Police said Falco was visibly intoxicated, flailing his hands, and allegedly pushing officers when he was arrested.
