ALL TOWNS — Eight public swine flu clinics have been tentatively planned in Hudson County towns, but the dates have not been determined yet, and it is unsure whether they will get the short or the nasal spray right now. The nasal spray contains a live virus and is not recommended for pregnant women. In addition, the clinics may decide to only give the shot to high-risk groups (children, pregnant women, etc.) To see the list and get updates, click HERE for H1N1 and Hudson County.
And…here’s a sign of the times.
Secaucus and several other districts around the state are NOT going to honor students with perfect attendance this year because the CDC has advised that kids who have symptoms of swine flu should stay home.
The Star-Ledger reports: “Roselle Park recently joined several districts around the state, including Bridgewater-Raritan, Secaucus, Flemington and Kenilworth, in scratching perfect attendance recognitions for the school year. The message to parents: Keep sick children home.
“The move comes on a recommendation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that those with flu-like symptoms — sore throat, cough, fever, aches and runny nose — stay home. If they’ve had the flu, they should not trek back to school until at least 24 hours after the fever goes away, health officials say. Otherwise, they will only endanger others.”
