Dear Editor:
We write to share good news with the residents of Hoboken regarding two initiatives we were proud to both sponsor and support while on the City Council, as we collectively celebrate our vision for a better city in which to live, work and raise families. As you may know, there is a new movie theater in town, which required much diligence and foresight by the Hoboken City Council during the course of the last few years.
The construction of the theater entailed amending the redevelopment zone, which we felt was a worthy endeavor to advance the benefits of cinema in our community. We look forward to generations of Hobokenites visiting this theater and enjoying the rich culture that is offered by the movies. Furthermore, businesses that are local to the theater will thrive as a result of an increased volume of visitors to that neighborhood.
We also look forward to the much anticipated opening of Pier C Park, which is unique by way of its position on the Hudson River. This construction offers residents an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while appreciating the metropolis in which we reside. As former members of the Council we were excited by the prospect of such a distinctive recreational setting.
While we appreciated playing roles in the wonderful community that Hoboken has become, we look forward to working to ensure that even more potential is realized as we move forward. While the Mile Square City may not have an abundance of space, it will be important to be creative in our pursuit of open space and other worthwhile endeavors.
Sincerely,
Terry LaBruno
